Inter Milan bid for Thuram rejected by Gladbach

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

Inter Milan is monitoring Marcus Thuram of Borussia Monchengladbach as their replacement for Romelu Lukaku. This is according to news coming from Sky Sports.

It is also reported that Inter has submitted an initial bid for the French attacker. However, Gladbach has rejected the bid worth around €22 million and is demanding over €30 million for Thuram.

Inter Milan are in need of reinforcing their attack if they want to keep hold of their Serie A title. Thuram is considered an ideal choice, with his ability to play across the front-line the key factor.

GLADBACH NOT READY TO SELL

Marcus Thuram had another decent season under his belt with Gladbach. He scored 8 times in the Bundesliga while also scored twice for them in the Champions League. Ever since his move from Guingamp to Germany, Thuram has been an important part of his side.

The 24-year-old has played 80 matches for Gladbach in all competition and have 25 goals to his name. He can play in both the wings, while also deputise in the centre-forward role. This versatility alongside his dribbling ability makes him a good prospect.

However the French international has a contract till 2023 with Gladbach. Thus the German side is not in a hurry to sell him. Thuram also was part of the France squad for Euro 2020, though he only had limited game time on the pitch.

THURAM IDEAL SOLUTION FOR INTER

For Inter Milan, the financial situation meant that the club was forced to sell their talismanic striker Romelu Lukaku. The Belgian move to his former club Chelsea for a fee of around €115 million. The Nerazzurri also sold young wing-back, Achraf Hakimi, to PSG.

While the major incomings to the club include the likes of veteran striker Edin Dzeko and Dutch wing-back Denzel Dumfries. There are also rumours that Lukaku’s strike partner Lautaro Martinez could leave the club, with Tottenham and Arsenal showing interest in the Argentine.

Hence for Inter Milan, it is important to regain the trust of their fans and players. The club will start their defence of the Serie A title this weekend, playing against Genoa. Thuram can become the first piece in rebuilding the squad as he can be used alongside Martinez and Dzeko. However, it is still not clear if Inter will push for the move after their first bid was rejected.
