Auxerre

Inter Milan confirmed their participation in the knockout stages of Europe’s premier club competition, the UEFA Champions League. Matchday five of the Champions League saw the Italian giants beat Victoria Plzen, 4-0, to reach the round of 16.

Inter Milan is part of the ‘Group of Death,’ including Bayern Munich, Barcelona, and Victoria Plzen. While the club lost against Bayern in the first match, they were successful in keeping Barcelona at bay. The two matches against the Catalonian resulted in a home win and an away draw. These results practically cemented their spot and kicked Barcelona out of the top two finish in the group.

Inter Milan owner Steven Zhang was overjoyed by the result

According to Corriere Della Sera, Zhang chose to give the team €2 million as a reward for making it to the Round of 16 after the Champions League victory.

The President also appreciated Milan Skriniar. The Inter Milan President has instructed his board of directors to continue contract negotiations with Milan Skriniar until a new agreement is reached.

“Milan Skriniar is an incredible player, and he knows that I want him to rest. I’m really confident about agreeing to a new deal.”

According to a story in the Milan-based publication Gazzetta Dello Sport, the Nerazzurri president has asked his directors to resolve the situation as soon as possible. The club is aware of PSG’s long-standing interest in the player. The French-based club was near about successful in bringing the Slovakian into France.

Following a dismal start to the season in which they lost four of their first eight Serie A games, Simone Inzaghi’s team has now turned things around in the capital of Lombardy.

The Nerazzurri will take on Sampdoria on October 29 in an effort to make up more ground in the league.
