Is Randal Kolo Muani coming to the Premier League?

Blues Eyeing Serie A’s Top Scorer to Improve Their Attack

Randal Kolo Muani is one of the best upcoming strikers in the world. After starting his career at FC Nantes, the French forward moved to Eintracht Frankfurt on a free transfer in 2022. One year later, the French Giants Paris Saint Germain agreed on a deal to bring him to Paris. Now, clubs like Chelsea and Manchester United are linked with the player because his time at PSG hasn’t gone according to plan.

The decision to bring him to the club was Nasser Al Khelaifi’s with Luis Enrique and Luis Campos less keen on bringing him. Under Enrique, he has found it difficult to start. Even after his biggest competitor for the number nine spot is out injured, it looks like the manager does not trust Randal Kolo Muani. He is a regular starter for France and looks good when he plays for the national team. At the age of 25, a player of his caliber is too good to sit on the bench in the McDonald’s League.

This underutilization of Randal Kolo Muani is why he is linked to a move away from the French capital. With clubs like Chelsea and Manchester United reportedly interested in the striker, a move to the premier league looks closer than ever. Let’s talk about what has happened within a year in Paris and also look into where he should go, to start afresh.

Randal Kolo Muani at Paris Saint Germain

Paris fans celebrated wildly when he joined last year. The club aggressively pursued and secured him, disproving reports that the deal had fallen through. It was Nasser Al Khelaifi, the club president who pushed hard for the move. The Parisians paid £76 million to secure his signature as one of the players to replace Kylian Mbappe.

One year after his move to PSG, it looks like the manager does not trust him enough. It’s not just that, his performances have also been underwhelming and during the first year, he did start a fair number of matches but his place as a starter never looked cemented. To add to this, PSG also signed Goncalo Ramos, the Portuguese number nine which meant that Kolo Muani’s struggle for minutes was going to increase. But with Kylian Mbappe leaving, one position that was up for grabs was in the front three. Bradley Barcola and Ousmane Dembele are nailed in the starting lineup, and they have the production to back it up. But in the first game of the season, Ramos started as the striker and not Randal Kolo Muani.

Ramos got hurt less than ten minutes into the game, and it looked like now Kolo Muani would be the starting striker at least till the time the Portuguese came back. That didn’t happen. Enrique has preferred Marco Asensio as the false nine over Kolo Muani. The coach doesn’t trust him enough to play the spot. Hence, one year after the move, it looks like Kolo Muani’s time in Paris is coming to an end.

Should he leave?

If things don’t take a turn for the better, he might very well be off to somewhere else. His market value is only going to tank in the future if he isn’t given much game time. He has started in just two of the seven games that he has played in the league this season.

Moving to a new club can be great but moving to Chelsea or Manchester United is complicated. The Blues have a million players competing for three spots in attack and he won’t get the minutes there. The same is the case with Manchester United, competing with Zirkzee, Hojlund, Amad, and Garnacho will be a new challenge for Randal Kolo Muani. Going to United, to revive your career sounds extremely wrong.

As a Paris fan, I don’t want him to leave. He is still young, has the physical tools to be a great attacker, and plays well for the national team. He’s incredibly versatile and will shine as a forward. But without the manager’s trust, even the most talented players, like Manuel Ugarte, need to move on.
