Alexander Isak has been heavily linked with the move to Arsenal. He has now commented on the same and opened up about the current situation. Isak also spoke about his relationship with Newcastle United.
Isak had a great season last term. He scored 25 goals out of which 21 came in the Premier League. He was then linked to Gunners but Newcastle were not interested in selling their star striker.
Isak has now scored 5 goals this season along with 2 assists. He is still an important player for Magpies but he may be open for a move next year. This is due to his current contract situation.
Isak has contract running until 2028 with Newcastle which the clubs wants to extend. But, the striker wants more salary with a release clause which the club is not prepared to offer. This has halted the contract talks and hence the player can be seen moving away next year.
On the other hand, Arsenal are desperate to sign a striker. They are lacking in front of the goal and need a clinical striker to reignite their title hopes. Kai Havertz’s form is dipped in the recent days and the player is not to blame as he is being used in unnatural position.
Isak speaks about his future ahead of Arsenal linking
Earlier Arsenal were reported to spend big to secure the signature of Sweedish striker. They were said to pay more than £100 million but now Isak has had his say which may upset Gooners.
“Throughout my career, I have never talked about or really commented on the move rumours during the season. There have been many such years where it has been talked about. It doesn’t affect me” – Isak speaking to fotbollskanalen.
Lastly Isak said that he never had any problem at Newcastle. He added that he is focussed on the task and they will have a fantastic season. He ended by clearing that he has no thoughts about anything else which suggest that he is not thinking about Arsenal switch as of yet.
