Blasters to play against Kerala United in friendlies

Kerala Blasters would be playing two friendlies against I-league second division side Kerala United FC. Additionally, the Indian Super League club would also play Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council.

Newly appointed head coaches Ivan Vukomanovic and Bino George would be keen on getting to know about their tactics as Kerala derby is on the cards. Both sides have revolutionized Kerala football and would be preparing themselves for their respective leagues.

The Kerala derby would take place two times – on 20th August and 27th August at 4 pm live on KBFC’s YouTube channel. Whereas, the friendly against Jammu and Kashmir is scheduled for 3rd September.

Kerala derby on cards with Blasters and United face off following an intense encounter in KPL

The Yellow army reserves earlier faced the might of Kerala United in the Kerala Premier League. However, the Hornbills were the ones who emerged victorious with a 3-1 win.

However, things have changed a lot since that meeting. Blasters roped in foreign gaffer Ivan Vukomanovic as the new head coach whereas United signed Bino George as their new head coach. The latter has been a pioneer among the Malayalee coaches after taking Gokulam Kerala FC to greater heights in the I-league.

The Purples have brought 20-year-old Brazillian centre-back, Gabriel Lima Silva. He joined from European club Shakthar Donetsk. Whereas, Blasters have roped in Adrian Luna and Enes Sipovic from Melbourne City and Chennaiyin FC.

Last season, lack of pre-season was a major problem in addition to lack of quality in scouting. Additionally, it has been difficult for football journalists such as Marcus Mergulhao to track the new signings. Jeakson Singh, Sahal Abdul Samad and Rahul KP are now training in the national camp for friendlies against Nepal.

The coverage would be done by Kerala Blasters YouTube channel, which has earlier shown glimpses about their innovative training sessions.
