Jamshedpur FC in talks with Kerala Blasters defender Anas Edathodika

The men of steel are in talks with Kerala Blasters former defender Anas Edathodika. Owen Coyle’s Jamshedpur FC are looking to sign Anas ahead of the Indian Super League season.

Born in Konodotty, Malappuram, Kerala Anas studied in EMEA College of Arts and Democracy, Konodotty. Anas began to take up football as a serious activity when he used to study in tenth grade and when he joined Malapurram U14s. While playing football Anas also used to work as an auto-driver who used to drive people around 180 rs per day. He then joined the football team of N.S.S College Manjeri where he groomed his skills under DR P.M Sudhir Kumar. Eventually, Anas got spotted by former India International Feroz Sherif while playing in an intercollegiate game.

Sherif advised Anas to attend trials for I-League second division side Mumbai which Edathodika did. he passed the trials and got a contract by a club on a one-year deal. After one season with Mumbai, Anas managed to get promoted to the 1st tier of the I-League.

The 34-years-old center-back, who have been approached by many I-League teams in the past year. But the defender wants to play in the ISL. He sat out the entire season but now is in talks to make a comeback in the top division.

Anas Edathodika first joined Tuskers from Jamshedpur in 2018 then moving on to the Atletico de Madrid. However, Anas managed to start only 7 games during the 2019-20 season before getting released by the last year. However, Anas’s joining will bring a lot of domestics as well as international experience to the team. He has played for Delhi Dynamos as well, apart from the clubs mentioned above.

Can Anas be the missing pillar for Jamshedpur FC

Anas has played for Mohun Bagan, Pune Fc, and Mumbai Fc in the I-League. He is someone who have traveled well-traveled and knows what is required to slot into a settled side. He have also played over 20 appearances for India at the senior level. Anas is someone who can be a perfect center-back for the men of steel who need someone like him after an inconsistent 2020-21 campaign.

The experienced stopper was the first player to be picked up during the 2017-18 player draft by Jamshedpur FC. Making him the first-ever player for the club. It is therefore going to be a kind of homecoming and when this deal goes through with talks at an advanced stage right now.
