Jhingan moving abroad, to play in Croatia’s top league

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

The 28-year-old Indian centre back Sandesh Jhingan is in advanced talks with HMK Sibenik which is Croatia’s league team. Sandesh and HMK have almost reached the final term of the agreement. And in no time Sandesh will travel to Croatia to sign the relevant papers.

Adriano Savalli broke the news of Sandesh’s departure from ISL, through his social media handles. Sandesh currently is serving for ATK Mohun Bagan which is a big team in the Hero Indian Super League. He signed a contract of 5 years with Mohun Bagan, But he could easily move to Europe without worrying about it.

Because it is mentioned in his contract, that he can leave if an offer arrives to play in the top tier of Europe. Which has happened.

Jhingan to follow the footsteps of Chhetri

After trying to get to Europe last year, Jhingan’s dream have finally come true as he is about to join HMK. There is another man from Indian football who made the thing possible a few years ago. It was none other than Sunil Chhetri, and now it is safe to say that Jhingan is also going to follow in the footsteps of Chhetri.

The news looks legit as per the sources because Sandesh was not seen training with Mohun Bagan for the AFC Cup matches. Adriano Savalli, the man who broke the news said  “Sandesh Jhingan, one step away from pursuing his career at HNK Šibenik. The defender goes free from ATK Mohun Bagan to make history and play in the Croatian First Division. There is already an agreement and the idea is that I travel in the next few days.”

If the transfer happens then Mohun Bagan will surely have to look for a replacement for their star defender. Which for the moment looks like something impossible to do. Now, speaking about HMK Sibenik, it is a club that was promoted to the top tier of Croatian football in 2019-20. They are currently at the 6th position of the league table.
