Ivan Perisic: Tottenham Hotspur clothing in on a deal for Inter ace

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly on the verge of signing Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic as per the report from Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Despite losing the Scudetto by a narrow margin to city rival AC Milan. The 33-year-old has joined a stellar campaign in this recently concluded campaign. The Croatian has scored eight goals and notched up seven assists in 35 Serie A appearances from the wing-back position.

Meanwhile, the winger’s current contract with the Nerazzurri will expire at the end of next month. The Italian giants tried to offer Ivan Perisic a new contract. But, it is looking likely that he will be leaving the club for free and joining Tottenham Hotspur.

Fabrizio Romano tweeted that Spurs have been trying to get this deal over the line since Monday. The north London club have offered a two-year contract to the experienced campaigner. And he is set to agree on this deal.

The Italian Journalist further claimed that the 33-year-old is one step away from joining Tottenham Hotspur. And he will tell his decision to his current employer before signing the new contract with Antonio Conte’s side.

Can Ivan Perisic find success at Tottenham?

Signing the 33-year-old could be a very good acquisition for Tottenham Hotspur. The winger will be deployed as a left-wing back spot. And he has enjoyed great success at Giuseppe Meazza this season in that position.

Spurs need strengthening to the wing-back position. Given the other fullback, choices are not up to the mark to aid the North London club in challenging for the titles. So, Matt Doherty on one side and Ivan Perisic on the other could be very good wing-back options.

Meanwhile, Antonio Conte‘s side are reportedly looking to spend around £150 million this summer. And resolving one of the key problems for free will be a shrewd business.

So, it will be interesting to see how far Tottenham Hotspur can go next season under Conte. If he can manage to win some silverware next season. Then that will be a great outcome for the North Londoners.
