Jadon Sancho bantered after making falsified comment

Jadon Sancho was talking about, Enzo Maresca’s influence in him choosing Chelsea. But something was not right.

The English winger made a deadline day switch to Chelsea from Premier League rivals Manchester United. The move which is initially a loan move and will be made permanent in 2025. Sancho was out of favour at Man Utd despite reconciling with manger Erik Ten Hag. This triggered a late move on deadline day which will give move opportunities for Sancho and more options for Maresca. The move earned more name recently when Chelsea put out a video featuring Jadon Sancho. In which he was seen saying about how Enzo Maresca influenced his move to Chelsea. But not all of what he said was true. This lead to Chelsea and Sancho having bantered throughout social media.

SANCHO MOVE TO CHELSEA

Jadon Sancho’s move to Chelsea was one of the most interesting transfers of this summer transfer window. The move was sealed late on deadline day which also facilitated Raheem Sterling join Arsenal on the same day. Maresca wanted Sterling out and Sancho was not favoured by Red Devils manager Erik Ten Hag. Chelsea were interested in Jadon Sancho but could only sign him if they get rid of one of their outcast players. So when Arsenal came in for Sterling, The Blues got their hands on 25 year old winger. It was also confirmed that it was initially a loan move but will be made permanent next year for a few between £20 to £25 million.

Jadon Sancho impressed during his time at Man City youth set up and was snapped up by German giants Borussia Dortmund at a very young age. His four years in Germany was so impressive that he was dubbed as one of the future stars of English football. In 2021 he moved to Man Utd for a whopping £73 million. Despite starting well Jadon Sancho struggled to make an impact and when new manager Erik Ten Hag came in. It went from bad from worst for the English winger. Comments from Ten Hag about Sancho’s professionalism sparked a public fallout between the pair. He was sent out on loan back to Dortmund for the second half of last season. Sancho came back to life once again at Dortmund and lead them to the Champions League final.

Back again at Man Utd, it was publicly confirmed by the manager that they had reconciled. And Sancho appeared for United in the pre-season. But still he was out of favour and lead to this move to Chelsea.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Chelsea announced the signing through their social media platforms only on Saturday. Sancho would wear number 19 for his new club. The 25 year old was introduced in front of the Stamford Bridge support ahead of their match against Crystal Palace on Sunday.

So it was all good until Chelsea posted a video on 3rd of September by 4:17 pm IST that is 11:47 am UK time. The video featured an interview given by Jadon Sancho where he talked about his move to Chelsea.

In that video Sancho was asked ‘Why Chelsea, what was it sort of drew you to the project?’. To that he answered ‘I think it’s the manager’ Sancho went on the explain ‘I knew him from his time with Pep Guardiola in Manchester City. He spoke to me on the phone about this project and what he was building here, and for a young player like myself it’s exciting and I can’t wait to get started.’ The detailed script of the interview is available in the Chelsea official website. So this particular reply at first might seem perfect but when you explore into history you would understand the blunder.

Sancho left Man City at a very young age in 2017 when he was just 17. But Maresca only joined Pep at City in 2021. When Sancho was at City youth set up Maresca was part of Sevilla coaching staff. So there was not chance of Sancho meeting Maresca as explained for Sancho. Social Media went viral with banters for both the player and Chelsea.

Chelsea however play Bournemouth on Saturday at the Vitality stadium and Jadon Sancho is tipped to make his debut for the West London outfit.
