Jadon Sancho is off to a great start at Chelsea. He looked set to make his debut after Maresca said good things about him during the international break. The winger came on for Pedro Neto at the break and assisted the winner. His stellar performance earned him the Man of the Match award on his Chelsea debut. After the win, he posted a picture of himself and Nkunku celebrating the winning goal. Many current and former teammates commented on the post, but it was the Manchester United captain whose comment shocked fans. Bruno Fernandes commented, “Some player you (fire emoji). Keep that smile”. Fans have had a mixed reaction to this, some appreciating Bruno and others asking him to delete it.
Manchester United and Jadon Sancho
The English winger made a stunning move to Old Trafford in July of 2021 for 73 million pounds. At the time he was seen as a generational talent, thanks to his time at Dortmund. There he was amazing, his ability to get past defenders with ease and then provide an intelligent ball into the box looked effortless. During his time at Manchester United, he showed flashes of brilliance but inconsistent performances, injuries, and the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo meant fewer opportunities for him. He was low on confidence and his performances got worse. Bruno Fernandes was his captain during his time at United.
With no clarity about his future at the club, Erik Ten Hag and Jadon Sancho had a falling out after he took to social media for not being included to play against Arsenal. ETH wanted him to apologize but that never happened. He went back to Dortmund for the remainder of the season on loan and found his form back. The 24-year-old helped them reach the UCL final and showed everyone that he looks as good as ever. After he came back, Ten Hag said that it was all good between him and Sancho but that was clearly not the case. Even though Jadon Sancho was playing in the preseason, reports of him leaving were ever-present. Finally, he moved to Chelsea on deadline day for a season-long loan and an obligation to buy for 20-25 million pounds.
Some Manchester United fans blame Sancho for his failure at Old Trafford while many believe that the player has not failed the club, insisting that the truth is the other way around. After Bruno Fernandes commented on Sancho’s post, many fans asked him to delete the praise, whereas many others were appreciative of this gesture. Bruno’s message shows that Sancho wasn’t disliked by everyone inside the club, at least not by his captain. The Portuguese midfielder had nothing but love for his former teammate.
Sancho’s Chelsea Debut:
Sancho was unstoppable, since coming on at the half for Pedro Neto he did all the right things. He glided past the fullback on multiple occasions and created opportunities for others. He was Chelsea’s best attacker in the game. Maresca after the game told how Jadon did exactly what the manager expected from him. The Italian also said that he just wants Sancho to be happy, he knows how good a player Sancho is and all he needs is love. The boss needs to find a way to keep Nkunku, Sancho, Palmer, and Felix on the pitch at the same time. The individual offensive talent at his disposal is a great problem to have for any manager. Chelsea will need some time to find the correct combination of players. With captain Reece James and Midfielder Romeo Lavia on their way back into the squad, Sancho has got the fans excited. After a MOTM award-winning performance on his debut, he looks set to prove ETH and Manchester United wrong.
