Jamie Carragher played for Liverpool throughout his career. Despite playing for 17 years, he was never able to win the Premier League title. The Reds were one of the best teams in Europe and did very good in Champions League. But, unfortunately they were not able to do the same in Premier League.
Carragher while speaking on The Overlap podcast, spoke about why they always fell short in winning the league. He also named two Manchester United players who could have made the difference if they played for Liverpool.
Jamie Carragher speaks about winning league title with Liverpool
Firstly, Carragher said that they played 76 league games in two years and only lost 6 of them. But they were still far away from winning the league as many of the remaining games ended in draw.
Later Carragher said that in the time between 2005 to 2010, the league had the best version of Chelsea, United and Arsenal. He added that even if they did not win the league they were one of the top five or six teams in Europe.
Jamie Carragher then spoke about where they fell short in the pursuit of the league title. He said that they were lacking an amazing winger. He said The Reds fell short due to not having enough quality in the wide areas.
Carragher continued that they never had Cristiano Ronaldo or Ryan Giggs. In addition, he said if Liverpool had only one of Ronaldo or Giggs, they would have won the league.
Gary Neville backed Jamie Carragher and said that none of the Liverpool winger in the past 10-15 years was as good as the four wingers they have now. He referred the currently wingers by calling out Salah, Diaz, Jota, Gakpo and Mane (who left the club couple of years ago).
