Jamshedpur FC has signed 32-year-old Brazilian midfielder Elsinho for the upcoming ISL season. Elsinho is the club’s fourth foreign signing ahead of the 2023–24 season. The experienced midfielder will help Scott Cooper with his versatility and ability to play in different positions.
Player Profile: Elsinho:
Elsinho started his career with Brazilian lower-division sides Votuporanguense and Olimpia SP. In 2015, he went to Sao Paulo-based club Oeste FC but could not get regular match time. Later, he moved to Rio Claro FC but could not settle there.
In 2016, Elsinho switched to Mexican club FC Juarez and spent four seasons there. The Brazilian became one of the most important players for the club and showcased effective performances.
Before joining Spanish second-tier club Racing Ferrol FC in 2020, Elsinho played for another Mexican club, Celeya, on a loan deal. After his latest stint with Brazilian side Port. Santista, the Brazilian midfielder has switched to Indian Super League side Jamshedpur FC.
Performance Analysis: Elsinho:
The 6.2-foot midfielder played a total of 175 matches in his overall career and scored 14 goals. The Brazilian midfielder can operate as a defensive midfielder as well as a central defender.
Elsinho played 25 games for Racing Ferrol FC in La Liga 2 and scored four goals. He appeared 136 times for the Mexican side and bagged 10 goals.
Elsinho’s presence will strengthen Jamshedpur’s midfield. His passing ability, game-reading skills, tactical awareness, and effectiveness in shielding the defense will boost Jamshedpur’s midfield position.
Player’s thoughts on joining Jamshedpur FC:
On joining Jamshedpur FC, the experienced midfielder said,
“I see it as a great opportunity to join Jamshedpur FC. The club has previously won the ISL Shield and is building a strong squad with a great coach at the helm. I believe this is a great next step in my career, and I can’t wait to come and play in front of all the fans in Jamshedpur. I’m sure together as a squad we can get back to winning the big one.”
Coach’s Corner:
On Jamshedpur FC’s new no. 91, Head Coach Scott Cooper said,
“Elsinho is a centre back and defensive midfield player who has both height and technical ability. He’s very fast for a big guy and has played in Mexico and at various levels in Brazil. We like him because of his pace, technical ability, and also because he is a major threat from set pieces, so we feel like he will be a great commodity and bring height to the team.”
