Jovic showers praises on Ibrahimovic and speaks of his Real Madrid days

Luka Jovic

Luka Jovic praised Zlatan Ibrahimovic and discussed his unhappy experience at Real Madrid. After joining Real Madrid for €63m in 2019, Jovic struggled and eventually left on a free transfer to Fiorentina last summer.

Jovic is trying to revive his career in Florence and regain his confidence after a tough time at Real Madrid. He has scored 10 goals and provided two assists in 33 appearances this season. In an interview with La Repubblica, Jovic talked about his respect for AC Milan veteran, Ibrahimovic. He said:

“He is my absolute idol, he has left an unforgettable mark on football and he is still the added value of Milan today. Another idol is Radamel Falcao, for his hair and style of play.”

Jovic also reflected on his struggles at Real Madrid and explained why his time there didn’t go as planned.

“From the beginning, it all went wrong. I left Eintracht Frankfurt too early, after only one season at the top.”

“All the spotlight was on me, but it was difficult for a 21-year-old to fit in at the biggest club in the world. Between injuries, COVID and unfair pressure, it was an unhappy experience.”

What did Luka Jovic say about his current situation at Florence?

Jovic also talked about his positive experience in Florence as a 21-year-old striker. He said:

“For me it would have been a source of great honour and pride to take Ibra’s place at Milan two years ago, but nothing came of it.

“Today it will be a dream to meet him, at the end of the match I would like to exchange shirts with him.”

In the 2018-19 season, Jovic rose to fame by netting 27 goals in 48 matches in all competitions for Eintracht Frankfurt.
