Jovic To Fiorentina deal in the final stages

Luka Jovic

Real Madrid striker Luka Jovic is reportedly very close to moving to Serie A side Fiorentina. The Real Madrid starlet was close to completing a loan deal to Fiorentina. But things took a massive turn as the Serbian will now complete a permanent move to Fiorentina. Reports say that Real Madrid will be paying his entire salary for the entirety of 2 seasons.

Jovic joined the European champions this summer of 2019. He was coming off after a remarkable season in the Bundesliga for Eintracht Frankfurt. With so much potential at only 21 years of age, Los Blancos decided to go after him to be the replacement of Karim Benzema. But the time at Real Madrid has not been easy for the Serbian as he always played back up to Karim Benzema.

Too many expectations and Benzema’s magical form have really pushed him down the drain. Jovic managed to score just 3 goals and set up another 5 in more than 50 games for the La Liga champions. These stats say so much about his potential going to waste and market value dropping drastically. It always seemed sure that he would be leaving the Spanish capital to flourish elsewhere and Fiorentina has been the frontrunner in securing him.

Can Jovic be the answer to Fiorentina’s struggles?

Luka Jovic comes to Fiorentina with really big expectations. The Serbian is expected to fill in the shoes of Dusan Vlahovic who joined Juventus in the January window. Piatek and Arthur Cabral were brought in for the remainder of last season. But Fiorentina was always in need of a striker to lead their line regularly. Piatek will be reportedly leaving for Fenerbache leaving only Cabral as the sole striker.

Last month’s talks with the Los Blancos resulted in an agreement that sees Jovic coming to the Artemio Franchi stadium permanently. Real Madrid will be the salary payers for 2 seasons till his salary doubles. It will then be up to Jovic to extend his stay or move elsewhere. The clause also sees the European winners getting 50% of any future transfer fee. Jovic will be looking to prove his doubters wrong in order to clinch his spot in Serbia’s squad for the World cup.
