Serie A giants Napoli and Juventus keeping tabs on highly-rated Chelsea midfielder Billy Gilmour.
The 19-year old midfielder famously bossed the midfield against a strong Liverpool side in a 2-0 win in last season’s FA Cup. Billy Gilmour was out since June after suffering a knee injury. He made his first and only appearance this season in the 4-0 thumping of Sevilla.
He is yet to feature in Premier League games due to plenty of midfield options for manager Frank Lampard. Another highly-rated Stamford Bridge youngsters Fikayo Tomori and Callum Hudson-Odoi facing game time and linked with away move.
Gilmour made 11 appearances for the Chelsea first team last season but playing regularly for the star-studded Chelsea side will be difficult for the 19-year-old with Ngolo Kante, Jorginho, and Matteo Kovacic playing in a similar position.
His performances last season has earned him many admirers and a potential move is on the cards. If Gilmour wishes to move away from Stamford Bridge there will be big names waiting for his signature.
However, Chelsea are unlikely to consider any offers for Billy Gilmour. And any attempt to prise him away will surely be rebuffed. Billy signed a new 4- year contract with Chelsea last season, which keeps him at Stamford Bridge till 2023.
‘Quality of Billy hopefully means he will get some minutes. Particularly when we look at the Champions League game coming up in midweek and what’s on that game.
‘But more than that I think Billy’s quality will shine through. ‘But obviously, there is competition in that area, so we’ll have to see.’– Frank Lampard on Billy Gilmour
