Juventus finding hard to sign Locatelli from Sassuolo

Juventus will have to deal with very tough negotiations if they want to sign their main target Manuel Locatelli. Sassuolo are not ready to accept any deal unless their terms are accepted.

This is according to Calciomercato who reported that Sassuolo are willing to agree to a two-year loan deal with an obligation to buy for Locatelli. However, the Neraverdi wants €35million plus bonuses for the deal to go through from Juventus.

Juventus initially offer for Locatelli was rejected by Sassuolo as they wanted a better deal for their superstar. Though other clubs like Arsenal were interested in signing him, Locatelli has his heart set for a Juventus move.

SASSUOLO PLAYING IT HARD

Sassuolo clearly understands that Manuel Locatelli wants to join Juventus this summer. They are ready to sell the midfielder but wants to reach a suitable agreement regarding his transfer fees.

Clubs across the world are still struggling from the effects of the pandemic. The same is the case for Juventus and Sassuolo. Even though Locatelli is the main target for the Old Lady this summer, they are not in a financial position to spend the money outright. This is why both the parties are trying to work out a loan deal, similar to the one used for signing Federico Chiesa from Fiorentina.

Juve’s rejected offer involved a two-year loan deal for €5 million and an option to buy for €25million and bonuses. But Sassuolo wanted an initial loan fee of between €8 and €10 million, with a €25million obligation to buy at the end of the loan. There will also be a bonus of around €10 million in which half is easily achievable and the other half is harder.

The key for Sassuolo in the deal is to have the obligation to buy, rather than an option to buy. This is because the club does not want Juventus to have any space to renegotiate later.

LOCATELLI THE MAIN TARGET FOR JUVENTUS

Locatelli is considered the key target for the new manager of Juventus Massimiliano Allegri. The Italian had an amazing season with Sassuolo. He played 34 times for them in Serie A and scored 4 goals for them. Predominantly playing in the defensive midfield position, Locatelli is good at his passing abilities.

The 23-year-old has good defensive abilities and is also an excellent dribbler of the ball. Locatelli played a huge part in Italy’s Euro 2020 winning team, scoring a brace against Switzerland in the group stages. The former AC Milan player has played 63 times for them before switching to his current side Sassuolo.

Juventus in recent times have picked up the best talents from Serie A. If they can get past a very tough Sassuolo, they could add Locatelli to their star-studded squad.
