Juventus keeping tabs on Sampdoria ace Mikkel Damsgaard

Juventus are reportedly monitoring the development of Sampdoria midfielder Mikkel Damsgaard, as per the report in Italian outlet Calciomercato.

The 21-year-old joined the Serie A side last summer from FC Nordsjælland for around €7 million. The midfielder showcased his talent in the European Championship, scoring two goals and assisting one time in five appearances. Following a stellar summer, the youngster has caught attention from big clubs around Europe.

According to the report in Calciomercato, The Old Lady of Turin have changed their policy in recent years, they used to buy over 30-year-old players in the past. However, the Bianconeri are currently looking to buy young talents without spending huge amounts and let them develop at the Allianz Stadium.

Damsgaard is one of the players Juventus are eyeing for a move alongside Dusan Vlahovic of Fiorentina. The former has shown his potential in Euro 2020 and could be a great coup for Massimiliano Allegri. However, it will not be easy for the record Italian champions to sign the Danish as the two Milan clubs are also showing interest in the midfielder.

Juventus want to sign Damsgaard from Sampdoria:

Juventus have lacked the creativity in midfield in recent times. And consequence of that the Bianconeri have struggled to break down the lower blocks in the opening couple of games of the new season. Allegri’s side could not break the deadlock at home against the newly-promoted side Empoli and suffered a 1-0 defeat.

So, after signing Manuel Locatelli from Sassuolo, signing Damsgaard will be an upgrade to the attacking midfield department. Despite having almost no service last season, Cristiano Ronaldo scored 29 goals in the league and won the golden boot. But, following the Portuguese’s departure, the Bianconeri struggled to break deep line defences.

Meanwhile, after a draw and a disappointing loss, Juventus are currently sitting in the bottom half of the table. The start of the second innings has not been great for Allegri, however, the Italian boss will be hoping to change their fortune around after the international break. But, it will not be easy as they will have to face Napoli and AC Milan in the next two league games.
