Juventus to hold talks with Dybala over contract extension

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

Paulo Dybala and his agents will hold talks with Juventus concerning his long term future. The 27-year-old Argentine has been with the club since 2015. A young unknown talent from Palermo quickly became one of the biggest sensations of Global football. With a wand of a left foot, he weaves his way past defenders much like his fellow countryman, Lionel Messi.

Signed for £27 million, Dybala has made over 254 appearances for Juventus. He has bundled in 100 and created another 41. His exploits have caught the eyes of top clubs across Europe. Over the years he has garnered the attention of clubs like Real Madrid, Manchester United, Atletico Madrid and Bayern Munich. He is an important player at Juventus but has been struggling off late. The form is temporary, class is permanent.

Juventus are currently busy trying to secure the move of Manuel Locatelli. The Sassuolo midfielder had a great run at the Euros. His excellent work rate and calm gameplay caught the attention of many clubs. Arsenal are giving stiff competition to Juventus and thus other deals like contract extensions have taken a back seat.

Juventus unsure about Dybala

Juventus are keeping a close eye on Dybala’s situation because he is in his last year of his contract. They do not want to lose him on a free-transfer and thus want him to sign an extension. In December, Juventus chairman Andrea Agnelli offered him a new contract that would put him in ‘the top-20 paid footballers in Europe’. Nothing bore fruit and Juventus will have to take a leap of faith and give him a larger contract. If he does excel and go to another club for a good sum, it’s business done perfectly. If he does not, it’s a hole in the clubs pocket.

He still has it in him

Paulo Dybala was the Most Valuable Player of the Serie A in 2019/20. He does contribute a lot to the club but injuries make it a hard battle.
