Arsenal signed Kai Havertz from Chelsea to improve their midfield last year. Firstly he played in his natural position but later Arteta had other plans. Arteta made Havertz his main striker as Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah were having bad seasons.
This turned out to be a masterstroke as Havertz started delivering on regular basis. He thrived in the number nine position and scored regularly along with providing assists. This season Gunners did not sign a new striker and Arteta has made Havertz his regular starter.
Havertz is now very close to crave his name in history books of Arsenal. He is currently not playing for German national team as is out due to injury. But, he will return in action after the international break where he has chance to create history.
Kai Havertz on the verge of creating history at Arsenal
Havertz has now scored in 7 straight home games for Arsenal. He has scored in all 6 homes games this season along with his goal against Everton on the final day of 2023/24 season.
Only three players have scored in 8 straight home games for Gunners. Those players are Thierry Henry, Doug Lishman and Jimmy Brain. Henry did this in 2000, Doug did it in 1954 and Brain did it in 1927.
All these three legends have did it at Highbury which means Havertz will be the first player ever to reach the milestone at The Emirates. Before Havertz, Robin Van Persie was close to reach this milestone but fell short to score his 8th straight home goal.
Havertz is also 2 goals short in reaching the best home scoring run in Premier League by Arsenal players. Henry holds the record for scoring in 7 straight Premier League home games in 2004. All of the stats and record as per Official Arsenal Website.
Havertz will like to break both records and crave his name in the history books. His next home game could be an UCL fixture against Shakhtar Donetsk or Premier League fixture against Liverpool.
