Arsenal hit with another injury blow after in form striker Kai Havertz suffered a knee problem resulting in his withdrawal from Germany team.
Mikel Arteta has to deal with another injury concern, after their captain was already sidelined since mid-September. Havertz is one of the in-form forwards in the Premier League right now and his absence would be a real problem for Arsenal. The forward was in the national team squad for the international break but on Saturday it was confirmed that he is out injured. As per the reports it is a knee problem, and we now have a return date confirmed.
HAVERTZ AT ARSENAL
The 25-year-old German despite not being an out and out striker has been in scintillating form this season. Havertz found the net 6 times in the last 10 outings for Arsenal. Even though he started his career as an attacking midfielder his positions had been changing throughout his career. At Chelsea he played as a striker, second striker, midfielder, winger and for Germany he even played as a full back. It was like he didn’t have a position or we can say that managers struggled to find a perfect position for the German.
He was unsettled at times with Chelsea which resulted in a big move across town to Arsenal. It looks like Under Areta he has finally found his rhythm back. He now has a duty within the team. It is his movements and interplay that helps Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard rack up goals. Anyway, according to the statement from the German national team, Kai Havertz has been dropped from the team. He picked up an injury during Arsenal’s comeback win against Southampton on Saturday. He is set to miss both of Germany’s Nations League fixtures against Bosnia Herzegovina and Netherlands.
KAI HAVERTZ INJURY UPDATE
The German Football Federation said: “Kai Havertz will miss the upcoming international matches against Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Netherlands due to knee problems. National coach Julian Nagelsmann nominated Jonathan Burkardt in Havertz’s place. Get well soon, Kai!” According to football.london
Like Arsenal, the German national team is also going to miss out an in-form player. Havertz was an integral part of the team that made it into the quarter finals of Euro 2024. Even though it was the goals from Fullkrug that helped Germany most of the time, Havertz was the favorite to start each match.
Another update comes from the reliable sports journalist Fabrizio Romano. According to him, Havertz is expected to be assessed by the Arsenal medical team in the next few days. So then only we can know about the extent of the injury. Anyway, there is no update about the return date of any sort or the extent of the injury. We expect it to come out at some point.
WHAT NEXT FOR ARSENAL?
Arsenal will face Bournemouth in two weeks’ time at the Vitality stadium. Havertz will now have the whole break to rest and get back into shape. The Gunners are once again facing a hectic schedule after coming back from the international break. They have a flurry of seven matches in three weeks. That includes four Premier League matches, a Carabao cup match and a couple of UEFA Champions League matches. Among the four PL matches they have Liverpool, Chelsea and Newcastle United. And in Europe they have Italian champions Inter Milan. So, during these tough rounds of matches they need to rotate players. The absence of a versatile player like Kai Havertz would be a real concern for Mikel Arteta. Anyway, it is again a testing period for the Arsenal team who are fighting for the title against Man City and Liverpool.
