Karim Benzema continues to shine for Real Madrid as he is having a great start to the 2021/22 season. The Frenchman has already scored 8 goals in 6 matches, while also assisted 7 goals in those appearances. Benzema also got completed 200 La Liga goals on Thursday as he scored a brace against RCD Mallorca.
The Frenchman has been an integral part of the Real Madrid attack since 2009. But the people started noticing his contribution from the last three years. Until 2018, Cristiano Ronaldo had been the face of Real Madrid. But as the Portuguese star left, it was Karim Benzema who took the responsibility to lead the Madrid attack.
Benzema’s goal-scoring form until the 2017/18 season used to be mostly under 20 goals, as Ronaldo was the goal machine. But from the 18/19 season, his goal-scoring record has been lifted with each season having mostly up to 30 goals. We can clearly see that Benzema was holding back his firing form in front of the goal.
The center-forward will turn 34 this year in December but seeing his couple of seasons form it seems he still has 4-5 years left to play. While Benzema has already secured his next two seasons at Real Madrid. As he signed a new contract this year which will make him stay until 2023.
While the Frenchman is happy to continue at Los Blancos following his leading role in the team with good form and support from the fans. Following his performances in the last couple of seasons, many people are forwarding him for the Balon d’Or this year. But he might not win it as Lionel Messi, Jorginho and Robert Lewandowski are way ahead of him. But Benzema continues like this he may surely lift the award in near future.
