Keylor Navas has recognized the interest from clubs abroad and vowed to stay positive

Keylor Navas has been one of the best goalkeepers in World Football in the last decade. The Costa Rican was signed by Real Madrid after his impressive performances at the 2014 FIFA World Cup. The shot-stopper impressed at the Los Blancos as he guided them to three successive UEFA Champions League titles.

The Costa Rican was an essential part of the winning team and was often seen putting in match-winning performances. However, the club signed Thibaut Courtois in the summer of 2018. Due to the Belgian’s arrival, Keylor Navas saw his appearances limited. The shot-stopper then left Real Madrid on a permanent transfer for Paris Saint-Germain.

Keylor Navas continued his fine form and impressed with his performances in the Parc Des Princess. However, a similar story took place again as the club signed Gianluigi Donnarumma from AC Milan ahead of the 2021-22 season. Mauricio Pochettino used a rotational policy for his goalkeepers and kept both of them involved. However, new manager, Christophe Galtier has announced this summer that Donnarumma will be the first-choice goalkeeper and Keylor Navas will act as the second-choice goalkeeper.

Many clubs including Napoli were interested to sign Keylor Navas

Keylor Navas is too good to be a backup goalkeeper or a second-choice player in the squad. Thus, the player was interested in leaving the club this summer. Many top European clubs expressed their interest in signing the Costa Rican. However, Napoli was the favorite all summer.

The Italian side wanted to sign the shot-stopper to be their first-choice goalkeeper. However, the goalkeeper was unable to negotiate a termination of the contract with Paris Saint-Germain. Thus, the transfer did not materialize and Keylor Navas eventually decided to stay in Paris.

The three-time UEFA Champions League winner has vowed to stay positive in France and compete for the spot. He has expressed his willingness to fight for his place and continue the hard work, however, it is sad that the Costa Rican will have to warm the bench. The shot-stopper has not had a bad spell ever since he rose to prominence at the 2014 FIFA World Cup and has maintained his fine form.

It will be interesting to see if any top European side will come to his aid in January. Along with Napoli, Chelsea also might be interested to sign the goalkeeper in January as Edouard Mendy has looked unstable recently and the addition of someone as experienced as Keylor Navas to the squad will be really helpful for the club!!
