German midfielder Joshua Kimmich has reportedly agreed on a new five-year contract to prolong his future with Bayern Munich as per the report in German outlet Bild

The Bavarians bought the 26-year-old back in 2015 from fellow German club Stuttgart for €8.5 million. The midfielder has started his career as a right-back for the reigning Bundesliga champions. But, his quality with the ball and passing ability has made him one of the best central midfielders in the world.

Bayern Munich were having trouble in extending contracts of their first-team players like Kimmich, Leon Goretzka and Kingsley Coman. They were demanding almost as much as the club’s highest-paid players Robert Lewandowski, Manuel Neuer and Thomas Muller were earning. But, the club has refused to meet their demands.

The German giants were not keen on breaking their wage structure and offering everyone a huge financial package. This situation has stalled the contract extension of many players. However, the 26-year-old is ready to commit his future with the Bavarians. And it seems the problem might be on the verge of ending and the club will be able to keep their first-team players.

Kimmich to sign a new contract with Bayern Munich:

According to the report in Bild, Joshua Kimmich has reportedly been agreed to sign a new long-term contract until June 2026 to prolong his future with Bayern Munich. The midfielder will get a significant increase in wages which will make him the second-highest earner at the club just behind Lewandowski. The 26-year-old has reportedly done his negotiations with the club by himself, without any agent.

Meanwhile, securing the German international’s future was one of the main objectives for the Bundesliga giants. The midfielder has established himself as one of the best midfielders in world football and losing him would have been disastrous for the Bavarians

The 26-year-old has showcased his versatility during the European Championship where he was deployed as a right-wing-back by Germany coach Joachim Low. The midfielder’s ability to create chances from the deep is second to none and qualities on the set-pieces.

Kimmich will be an integral part of Julian Nagelsmann’s system at Bayern Munich this season. The young manager likes to implement a high-pressing and quick passing style of play. And the midfielder will be the absolute perfect man for that system.
