Ronald Koeman receives the backing of interim Barcelona President after the demand of sacking from Barca fans. Barcelona who are currently 5th in La Liga, dropped points at home when they were held to a draw by the visitors Valencia CF.
After that disappointing performance, saw them sit at the same position, and with Atletico and Real Madrid winning their respective matches have left Barcelona with a lot of ground to cover in order for them to get into the top four.
This season has been very inconsistent for Blaugrana where they also had a disappointing finish in the Champions League group stage where they finished 2nd and they were beaten at home by Juventus thus ending their winning streak in Camp Nou.
The fans started to become restless and they demanded Koeman’s sacking as they felt this season would be another trophy-less and disappointing season.
Barcelona President Downplays the Rumours of Koeman Sacking:
However, interim Barcelona president Carlos Tusquets has downplayed the rumors and he insists that the manager will remain at the club;
“I will not fire anyone, at all. [Ronald] Koeman is doing well, he has great criteria, he bets on the youth system and young players.
“He absolutely has my support and he will always have it. I’ve eaten with him recently and I found him to be optimistic. When the stadium is reopened it will not be very difficult to recover this club, not in the economic sphere and I hope not in the sporting sphere.– Carlos Tusquets, Interim President of FC Barcelona
Koeman’s next trip is a mid-week match against struggling Real Valladolid, after that they would face Eibar at home so Koeman has to make sure he finds the right formula otherwise he faces the plight of being sacked.
