La Liga President Javier Tebas has voiced his opinion on the investigation of Manchester City by the Premier League. He believes that the English League must sanction Man City for their actions. The Citizens were formally charged last year. The investigation into the alleged 115 charges did not start directly though. Moreover, Man City is denying any actions of wrongdoing. They strongly believe that they have not done anything that violates the rules. At the same time, they have a team of top class lawyers with them. The lawyers were able to help in the delaying of the investigation. But, the other clubs want action taken against them. As a result, the Etihad side could be in big trouble.
Javier Tebas speaks
As per givemesport, La Liga President Tebas said that an innocent verdict for Manchester City will surely damage the credibility of the Premier League. He strongly believes that the league should not judge big and small clubs differently. Just last season, we saw Everton being punished severely. The Toffees went on to receive 8-point deduction in the 23/24 campaign. The Spanish league President is a lawyer himself. He wants Man City to be sanctioned. All eyes will be on the hearing as the long-awaited process will finally begin today.
Will the Premier League sanction Manchester City?
All the clubs in the PL want Man City to face punishment. Why wouldn’t they? Especially when the Sky Blues have managed to build a star-studded team. At the same time, they have basically turned the PL into a farmers league. They already won 4 league titles in-a-row. Now, they could well be on the road to their 5th. But, considering their FFP violations & PSR breaches, coupled with their refusal to co-operate with the investigations, they could finally be facing some serious punishment. At one point of time, even UEFA wanted the Sky Blues out of the UCL. But, they survived. The Etihad side may escape some of the charges. But, it is highly unlikely that the Premier League will just let Manchester City pass-by. It will be interesting to see what this investigation uncovers.
