Chelsea fans might need to gear up for another transfer saga this transfer season with Conor Gallagher set to leave Stamford Bridge.
This summer transfer season has been full of happenings for the Chelsea side. Fans have seen the arrival and departure of many players and more seem to be coming. Chelsea has made some big signings and has spent some big amounts.
Looking at this, another major transfer seems on its way. Todd Boehly has been looking for a while to ease off club captain Conor Gallagher. The English midfielder’s transfer could prove extremely profitable for the side. As per the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), the transfer fee is labeled as ‘pure profit’ for Stamford Bridge.
It is believed that Chelsea is currently one of the clubs that are sitting on the precipice of Financial Fair Play. It is one of the reasons why Chelsea for the past couple of years is experiencing so many ins and outs in the transfer market.

Romano took on X to report that Gallagher will be departing to Atletico Madrid soon. Following this any hope among the fans is gone. Reportedly Gallagher will be joining Atletico Madrid at a €40m fee for five years.
But seemingly there is more to it. With the deal expected to trigger a ‘domino effect’, Chelsea might see the arrival of a new face. Fans can get excited with the prospect of Samu Omorodion coming to the Stamford Bridge.
Gallagher to join Atletico Madrid
Atletico Madrid has been pursuing Gallagher for quite a while now. Diego Simeone is a keen admirer of the Englishman. He wants him on his side for their 2024/25 campaign after a disappointing run last year. The side is looking to make a comeback this year and will gladly accept services from Gallagher.

It is believed that the 24 year old was not willing to leave the Blues. However, the club was not willing to meet the demands as his contract expires in 12 months. It is believed that they wanted to shift him to a squad player. This would remove him from being a first team regular player.
So even though Chelsea was interested in letting Gallagher go, the hard part was convincing him. After all, Chelsea is his childhood club.
Regardless, the deal is all done with a reported fee of €42 million. Gallagher is reportedly excited by the prospect of working under Simeone. He will be completing his medical soon.
On the other hand, Chelsea will be looking to lay hands on a new striker with the funds.
