Leicester City are reportedly eyeing a move for Sassuolo talisman Domenico Berardi in the January transfer window as per the report in English outlet Daily Mail.
The 27-year-old enjoyed a scintillating time in his career over the last 12 months with club and country. After having a stellar season last term, scoring 17 goals and assisting seven times in 30 Serie A appearances. The winger also played an important part for the Italian national side that lifted the European Championship over the summer.
According to the report, Leicester have already started talks with Neroverdi about a potential transfer of Berardi in January and a bid of around £35 million has already been rejected by the Italian side. The report further stated that striking this deal might not be easy for the Foxes as Chelsea, West Ham United and Borussia Dortmund are also keeping an eye on the Italy international.
Calciomercato earlier reported that the 27-year-old has already expressed his desire to leave the club and a move to the King Power Stadium might be possible in winter. Apart from the English clubs, many Italian clubs are also lining up a move for Berardi. AC Milan and Fiorentina are among the most interested parties.
Leicester want to sign Berardi from Sassuolo:
Signing Berardi will be a great acquisition for Leicester City. The winger has already showcased his talent in the biggest stage of world football and could shine in the Premier League under Brendan Rodgers.
The Foxes have been struggling with their wingers in recent times. With Harvey Barnes struggling in this season after recovering from a long-term injury, there are not many options either for the Irish boss’ disposal on the other flanks. So, the 27-year-old could be a perfect addition to the right-wing position.
Meanwhile, after a bad start to the season – having suffered defeats against West Ham and Manchester City – Leicester are currently sitting ninth in the table with six points in four games. The Foxes’ fixtures will not get any easier as they will have to face Napoli in their next match on Thursday in Europa League.
