Leonardo Trossard conveyed his will to stay in the North London continuing under the shade of Arteta. He is convinced and decided to help Arsenal win the title race this season.
The Belgium international considered as an important element for the North Londoners in the eyes of Mikel Arteta.
The transfer suggestion came after when the Belgian was not given minutes under the project of Arteta last season. The frustration rose as Trossard was not given much importance and time despite being the best performer in the year 2024.
In the beginning of the season also, where the Gunners faced Wolves and Aston Villa. Trossard was not in the starting 11 for Arteta’s side.
However, the Spanish coach turned on to him in their 1-1 draw against Brighton. It was in the presence of their own fans at the Emirates Stadium, London on Saturday.
But despite all of these situations, the Belgian desired to stay at Arsenal helping them to win titles and achieve victories for the Gunners.
The fight for a place in the starting eleven has improved the Belgian in a lot many ways, claimed the 29-year-old.
The forward said after his impressive performance and the goal he scored against Aston Villa. On Matchday 2 was impactful and helpful for the team. The pressure of performing well in every game because of the tight squad. The difficulty in switching positions has helped him more in growing as a footballer at Arsenal.
Situations turning up at Arteta’s camp
After the permanent departures of Emile Smith Rowe and Eddie Nketiah and the loan of Reiss Nelson. Only Raheem Sterling and a now injured Mikel Merino came in leaving Arteta with six natural options for the striker and wide roles. Sterling joins former Chelsea teammate Kai Havertz and former Man City colleague Gabriel Jesus with fellow England international Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli – Trossard makes up the six.
The European transfer window had already closed. But the Saudis still had a few more days to conduct business and were keen to add Trossard to their squad.
Arsenal found it odd that the Saudis expressed interest when they could not replace the Belgian and therefore turned down the offer.
However, it also seems unlikely that Leandro Trossard would have wanted to make the move anyway.
While he is not one of their guaranteed starters. The 29-year-old often comes off the bench as an impact substitute for Arteta’s team. He has featured in 71 matches for the Gunners and has contributed towards 31 goals (19 goals, 12 assists).
The Belgian international is already off the mark in the new season thanks to his strike against Aston Villa. While he remains an important part of their first team setup and still has two years left on his deal. Trossard has been linked with a move away in recent days.
Arsenal made a sense move
From a sporting perspective as well, Arsenal will be happy that Trossard did not push too aggressively to move to Saudi Arabia as it would have genuinely left them shorthanded on the left flank.
Gabriel Martinelli has gone through his fair share of fitness woes. While Trossard himself is also a fabulous wildcard to come off the bench, and a player that has been the differential so often for Arsenal.
Mikel Merino could face two months out of action after picking up an injury during his first Arsenal training session. The Spanish Euro 2024 winner picked up a shoulder injury and now expected to be out until at least the middle of October.
That could see the midfielder return to Arsenal’s squad following October’s international break. During his recovery, the former Real Sociedad star will be present in team meetings to continue his adaptation to the club.
