About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

Hansi Flick starts his duty as the new German boss with a routine victory over Liechtenstein. Germany won the match 0-2 against the host Liechtenstein in the World Cup Qualifier match.

A resolute Liechtenstein gave a tough competition for the 2014 world cup winners. However, goals from Timo Werner and Leroy Sane in each half helped Germany to collect the three points.

The results meant that after 4 matches, Germany are second in Group J with 9 points. But it is a sorry story for Liechtenstein as they are bottom of the group with still no points on the table.

LIECHTENSTEIN 0 -2 GERMANY : TEAM NEWS

The midfield involved the pair of Ilkay Gundogan and Joshua Kimmich. The attack was lead by the Chelsea pair of Timo Werner and Kai Havertz alongside Musiala and Leroy Sane.

Liechtenstein on the other hand used a defensive setup with three at the back. The team is as follows: Benjamin Buechel (GK); Sandro Wolfinger ,Andreas Malin, Daniel Kaufmann, Jens Hofer, Max Göppel; Noah Frick, Noah Frommelt, Nicolas Hasler(C); Yanik Frick, Aron Sele.

LIECHTENSTEIN 0 -2 GERMANY : POST MATCH ANALYSIS

The match saw a German side that was trying hard to break a very solid Liechtenstein defence. Die Mannschaft came very close in the early minutes to scoring but was denied by an excellent save from goalkeeper Buchel. Robin Gosens was also unlucky to score ] when his headed effort hit the post.

But Germany was able to finally break the defence down by an excellent link-up play between Musiala and Werner. The Chelsea forward finished the ball with ease at the 40th minute of the match.

The second half also continued in the same fashion, with Germany dominating the possession, while Liechtenstein was happy to sit back. But Sane ended any chance for the host when he beautifully manoeuvred past the defenders to score the goal in the 77th minute.

NOTABLE PERFORMANCE

Benjamin Buechel (8.5/10): The Liechtenstein keeper had an excellent match against the Germans. He made numerous saves including an astonishing triple save. Things could have been even worse for the host had their keeper not put out such a performance.

Leroy Sane (7/10): Though Germany enjoyed the lion share of possession, they found it hard to break through the defence. Sane was one of the players that had a notable performance under his belt as he shows some glimpses of the talent that made Bayern buy him from Manchester City.

The match was very one-sided, yet Germany lacked the ruthlessness in front of the goal. There is lots of work to be done for Hansi Flick to bring back the old German side that teams feared. The team will now face Armenia in the group on Sunday at home, while for Liechtenstein, they will travel to Romania in hopes of finally adding some points on the table.
