Liverpool 1-4 Manchester City post-match analysis:

It was a pretty even first half as Manchester City started well but Liverpool came back to the game in the game.

Sadio Mane got the first chance of the game but his header went over the crossbar he should have kept it on target.

Liverpool got yet another chance and Roberto Firmino’s brilliant shot was fisted over by goalkeeper Ederson.

City got the penalty against the run of play. Fabinho lazily fouled Sterling inside the box but Ilkay Gundogan could not keep his penalty on target and it went way over the bar.

Manchester City scored the opener just after the restart from a sweet one-two inside the Liverpool box and Gundogan put the ball into the open goal.

Liverpool came back to the game from a mistake from reliable Ruben Dias who pulled Salah inside the penalty box and Salah calmly converted the penalty.

After that, it was a City show in Anfield. Two horrible mistakes from Alisson who gave away possession in the danger area twice and Pep’s boys took full advantage of that, similar ways Gundogan and Sterling scored second and third goals.

City didn’t even finish the celebration of two quick-fire goals Foden widened the margin for The Cityzens. Alisson should have done a better job on that occasion.

Notable performances:

Ilkay Gundogan(CM) – (8/10)(Manchester City): After missing the penalty he scored twice in the second half which showed his character and overall played excellently.

Phil Foden(CF) – (8/10)(Manchester City): Scored the fourth goal with a great strike and also assisted the second goal. He was brilliant in the game.

Alisson(GK) – (2/10)(Liverpool): Made two horrible mistakes which changed the fate of the game and he should have done better for the fourth goal. He looked rattled in the second half.

Manchester City will play the next game away to Swansea City in F.A Cup on Wednesday and their next league game is against Tottenham Hotspur on 13th February. Liverpool’s next game is away to Leicester City in the Premier League on 13th February.
