Liverpool have reportedly entered the race to sign Borussia Dortmund star Erling Braut Haaland in the upcoming summer transfer window as per the report in Mundo Deportivo (via TRANSFERmarketWEB).
The 21-year-old took no time to settle down in Dortmund and immediately started to showcase his talent in the Bundesliga after joining BVB in January 2020. The forward has already scored 68 goals for the German giants in just 67 games in all competitions. The Norwegian has also started the new campaign brilliantly, scoring 11 goals and notching up three assists in just seven appearances in all competitions.
The Norwegian international reportedly has a release clause of €75 million in his current contract which can be activated from June 2022. Manchester United, Real Madrid, PSG and Manchester City have already shown interest to sign the 21-year-old sensation next summer and now Liverpool have also entered the race.
According to the report, Haaland is looking increasingly likely to leave Dortmund next summer and Liverpool are among the interested parties who want to benefit from the Norwegian’s service from next season. So, it will be interesting to see who can win the race to sign the 21-year-old next summer.
Can Liverpool sign Haaland next summer?
Signing Haaland will be a great acquisition for Liverpool. The forward has already showcased his goal-scoring prowess during the short time in his career and could sparkle at Anfield for years to come if the Reds were to sign the youngster next summer.
Following the recent downfall of Roberto Firmino, Diogo Jota has taken his opportunities wisely and established himself as the number one choice for Jurgen Klopp. But, signing Haaland will certainly be an upgrade from the Portuguese forward. So, the Norwegian will be a great addition to the attacking department of Liverpool.
However, the recent spending of the Reds do not justify that they will want to spend huge money on one player. Despite the player’s release clause being €75 million, it could go beyond the €100 million mark including the player’s salary and agent fees. So, it will be interesting to see if Liverpool will decide to spend that amount of money or not.
