Slot Eyes Ademola Lookman to Boost Liverpool’s Attack
After wrapping up a dominant Premier League title win, Liverpool aren’t resting. The Reds are now preparing for a squad revamp under new boss Arne Slot.
As per Italian outlet Quotidiano Sportivo, Ademola Lookman is one of their main targets for the summer. Since joining Atalanta from RB Leipzig, he has burst onto the Serie A scene. The former Everton winger has 20 goals and 7 assists from just 39 appearances this season. This shows the type of creativity and finishing Slot’s side need from their wings.
With Darwin Nunez expected to leave Anfield, the club is eyeing the Nigerian as a replacement. He is able to play on both wings or through the middle. The Reds had their eyes on the attacker back in January, but Atalanta refused to let him go mid-season. Now, the Italian club has slapped a €60 million (£50.4m) price tag on their star man.
Swap Deal on the Table as Liverpool Push for Summer Moves
The PL champions may not only pay cash to pursue Lookman, but they are also considering swapping Federico Chiesa. Chiesa has previously been linked with Atalanta. This will make a potential deal for Lookman.
Such a deal would help ease the financial burden while still giving Slot the attacking reinforcement he wants. The way Lookman is playing right now, he is a great option to freshen up Anfield’s attacking line. Especially, with big names like Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota also very likely to leave this June.
Meanwhile, the Reds are not just focused on the front line. In addition, Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong is also on their list. He will likely be a long-term replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold. Trent has confirmed he wants to head elsewhere.
