As per reports, Liverpool have entered talks with £52m-rated Christopher Nkunku.
Liverpool Shift Focus on Christopher Nkunku After Cole Palmer Blow
Liverpool are looking to ramp up their already deadly attack after winning the Premier League title. They will need to do so even more now with 28 goals from Mohamed Salah leading their charge.
But, with their interest in Cole Palmer blocked by Chelsea, Arne Slot’s side have quickly turned their eyes elsewhere. According to journalist Graeme Bailey, the Merseyside club is now in talks with the agents of Christopher Nkunku. This move has surprised many, as the Frenchman hasn’t been a regular in the Blues’ starting XI.
Nkunku on the Radar as Chelsea Consider Quick Sale
The France international arrived at Chelsea for £52 million from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2023. He has a contract through to 2029. The attacker has shown flashes of ability, returning 14 goals and 5 assists in 42 games. But, he has started just nine Premier League matches this season so far.
Blues’ new manager Enzo Maresca has mostly used him as a forward. But, he will also be fine with his sale too. There are reports that the west London club is hoping to move Nkunku quickly this summer. And he has already attracted not only Liverpool, but also interest from Arsenal and Tottenham.
The Reds, especially, are preparing to make their attack even stronger. They want Nkunku if they can take him from the Blues. Newcastle forward Alexander Isak is also being looked at by them.
Nkunku has the depth and adaptability Arne Slot wants, as he starts to overhaul the squad. It will be interesting to see if the manager goes all out to sign his target. However, it is clear that the Reds are looking to be swift this summer.
