Liverpool have approached Lazio for Milinkovic-Savic

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

Liverpool are in contact with Lazio to possibly sign Milinkovic-Savic. Liverpool had a terrible title-defence season. After winning for the first time in 30 years, the club failed to stay strong last season. Injuries have been their biggest enemies, keeping out their key players for a good part of last season.

Milinkovic-Savic had a wonderful season at Lazio. He scored 8 goals and assisted 9 others in 32 appearances. Lazio’s good run gave them the 6th position at the end of the season. However a 6th position does not give them European football.

Liverpool on the other hand managed to turn over an awful season in the final games. A goal by Alisson, a win over Manchester United to stop their run and many more miracles. They have secured Champions League football and will want to be prepared with a stronger squad. Georginio Wijnaldum left the club as a free agent which has left Liverpool in search of a replacement.

Liverpool will be a good move for Milinkovic-Savic

At 26, Milinkovic-Savic has never played in the Premier League before. Manchester United and Arsenal have been linked with the midfielder in the past on many occasions. None of the previous attempts have been successful.

This time however, Liverpool are in need of a midfielder and the deal may go through. Lazio are planning to sign Luis Alberto and might let Milinkovic-Savic go.

How will he fit in?

Liverpool have a talented midfield which includes Thiago Alcantara, Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, James Milner and Naby Keita. Some of these stars are ageing and Jurgen Klopp will be wanting to rotate his squad on a more regular basis to keep them fit.

Unlike the other midfielders, Milinkovic-Savic offers more going up front. He is a bigger threat on goal and will be an important addition to the squad.
