About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

According to a report by El Gol Digital, Antoine Griezmann is the subject of interest of Liverpool over a move in the summer transfer window. The Reds are willing to offer a good price for the French forward despite his average form for Barcelona.

Griezmann has been in La Liga for the better part of the past decade or so. He has spent five productive years each with Real Sociedad and Atletico Madrid.

The Frenchman was in the limelight during his time with Atletico Madrid. He managed 133 goals and 50 assists from 257 games in all competitions. He also went to put an impressive performance for France in 2018 when they went to win the World Cup.

But he 2019 he went to live a new challenge as he signed for Barcelona in the summer. The Catalans paid a huge amount of €120 million for the world cup winner to swoop him from Atletico.

The switch though has not entirely worked so far, with the 30-year-old being a slow starter at Camp Nou. Barcelona had hoped that his arrival would lead them to a new era, but Griezmann has not lived up to expectations.

However, he has shown some decent performance in the second half of this season and has a solid return of 20 goals and 12 assists in 51 appearances across all competitions. However, heading into the summer transfer window, the French forward’s future at Barcelona is uncertain.

The Frenchman’s contract runs until 2024, but he could leave this summer as Barcelona have tagged him a flop transfer. He is also included in the 14 players list that the club has put up for transfer this summer.

Liverpool interested in signing Griezmann

Liverpool has shown a keen interest in the French forward. The Reds have endured a troubled campaign, losing their Premier League title and ending the season trophyless.

Jurgen Klopp is desperate to get Liverpool back to their best and believes that Griezmann could be a vital player in his plan. The Reds have struggled in the final third this season, with both Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane going through a poor form in front of goal.

Although Mohamed Salah and Diogo Jota have done well, their efforts have not been enough to help Liverpool defend their Premier League title. But Salah might not be their next season as he is strongly linked for a move to Paris Saint-Germain.

As a result, Liverpool may be in the market for a replacement for the Egyptian. They are already linked with Robert Lewandowski, Dusan Vlahovic, and Patrick Bamford in recent weeks. But now it seems that they turned their attention towards Barcelona, with Griezmann emerging as a target.

It is believed that Liverpool has tabled a take it or leave it offer of €50 million to Barcelona for Griezmann. But the reds might face competition from Atletico Madrid as they are also interested in signing the forward back.

One thing is clear that Barcelona is open to selling Griezmann this summer. But we will have to see if the Frenchman wants a change and lands in England or joins his former club and stays in Spain.
