Liverpool looks to rebuild their squad this summer as Jürgen Klopp eyes on signing Pedro Goncalves, who is currently playing for Sporting Lisbon in Portuguese League Primeira Liga.
Pedro Gonçalves, whom many now have started calling the next Bruno Fernandes has found the net 14 times in just 15 Primeira Liga games with 2 assists to his name featuring as an attacking midfielder.
The 22-year-old had actually replaced Bruno Fernandes, who left the club on 30th January 2020 to play for Manchester United. Since then Pedro has been the perfect replacement for him in Sporting helping the club to top the league table with 45 points in just 17 matches, who are yet to be beaten in the by any other team in the Primeira Liga.
Liverpool to face competition for Goncalves?
Liverpool, who made ‘informal contact’ with the Goncalves in the January transfer window and have still kept their eyes on the young lad. Goncalves had also spent two years at Wolverhampton Wanderers earlier in his career but had only made a single appearance for them in the Carabao Cup.
The young Portuguese is known to have a €60 million release clause at the club and if the Reds look to sign him this summer they would have to pay this fee plus the transfer fees and 50% of the transfer fees if any must be paid to the 22- years former club Famalicao.
According to Daily Mirror, the Reds are looking forward to rebuilding their squad this summer under Jürgen Klopp.
Jurgen Klopp’s side are currently facing a lot of criticism for their dependency on the front three for goals as they have lost 3 in a row at Anfield in which they failed to score in two of them. Currently, they sit 10 points behind former champions Manchester City at 4th on 40 points in 23 matches in the Premier League.
Liverpool will go to King Power stadium this weekend to face Leicester City, who sit just above them on 3rd with 43 points in the Premier League table.
