Liverpool, likewise Real Madrid have joined the negotiation table for the signing of Bayern Munich star David Alaba. Both clubs have rumored to offer the Austrian international a contract of €10 million, a year.
With Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip held onto the sidelines, the Reds, in order to fill in their defensive plight are giving their all to sign him.
Besides Alaba and his deal with the German side is soon due to expire in June, which means he can leave the club on a free transfer this summer.
A number of clubs like Juventus, FC Barcelona, and PSG as well seemed interested in signing the Bayern talent. But their hopes were defeated for not meeting the offer value, like that of the Spanish and English sides.
Bayern Munich currently lead the Bundesliga table with 33 points in 15 league matches, but RB Leipzig, Bayer Leverkusen, and Borussia Dortmund are surprisingly very close this season. David Alaba has been regularly featured, mostly in centre-back position alongside Sule and Boateng.
Bayern Hope for Alaba Stay Despite Liverpool and Real Madrid Closing in?
Alaba first arrived at Bayern’s youth team in 2009 and was promoted to the first team, but was later loaned to TTS Hoffenheim in 2011.
He then returned to Bayern Munich during the 2011 season, and since then he has been the heart of the club, with making over 350 appearances in all competitions. He also has a record of scoring 26 goals and providing 38 assists for the Bavarians.
Alaba has even helped his team win the Bundesliga titles, UEFA Champions League and the DFB-Pokal Cup.
Often capable of playing on the left or right defensive wing, or sometimes as a center-back, Alaba is a versatile player, who can roll between a number of positions on the field.
His immense skills have been of great aid to his team, making him one of the best. Hence manager Hans Flick too hopes for Alaba to stay and play for the club for many seasons,
“I would be happy if David stays at Bayern beyond this season. He is an absolute top player and a really great person.”
“He has become one of the best players in the world at center-back, a position that was initially unfamiliar to him. He’s been an important cornerstone in our team and contributed a huge amount to us winning five titles.”— Hans Flick on David Alaba
Today the triumphant environment at Bayern Munich might make the defender change his mind. But in the end, the final decision is left up to the player himself, which has to be respected.
