Liverpool speed-up their interest in Chelsea target

Liverpool are showing strong interest in young Premier League winger. The player is having a superb season and has been on radar of Chelsea since long-time.

The star in question here is Dean Huijsen of Bournemouth. The Cherries signed him in summer 2024 for £13 million from Juventus. Huijsen is only 19 years old but is already a regular starter for Bournemouth. Infact, he is one of the best young defenders in world right now.

Huijsen has played 23 games so far this season. He has defended very well for the club against top club. In addition, he has also helped club offensively and has registered 2 goals. His qualities have attracted intetest from top clubs across whole Europe.

Chelsea have been long-term admirers of Huijsen. He firs perfectly in their idea of hiring young players. The 19 year old has £50 million release clause in his contract. This clause will be activated after the ending of current season.

Bournemouth are keen to offer Huijsen a new contract. They will plan to remove his release clause or increase it even higher. But, the player may opt to reject the contract and move to a bigger club this summer itself.

Football Insider have reported that Liverpool have accelerated thier intetest in Dean Huijsen. The report adds that the Reds want him to replace Virgi van Dijk who is linked with Real Madrid and Barcelona. Huijsen can be a very good replacement for Netherlands captain.

Van Dijk can still extend his contract with Liverpool but he will surely need replacement soon. In addition, there are reports of Ibrahima Konate moving away in summer. Hence, this will make Huijsen a top priority for the club. However, the Reds need to be ready for strong competition in the race.
