Liverpool has recently made a deal with another promising youth talent Rio Ngumoha. The youngster has already started to make waves with the Reds.
The English forward has made headlines for his contributions to the under-19 UEFA Youth League campaign for Liverpool. The 16-year-old was acquired by The Reds from Chelsea in the recent summer transfer window.
Rio is Chelsea camp result and has been impressing the coaches at an early age. Ngumoha has been Chelsea’s biggest prospect and was linked to play with the Blues’ main squad. He was very impressive in the youth camp even training with Mauricio Pochettino’s first-team squad last season. Rio trained with Pochettino’s regular playing XI when he was 15 years old.
Chelsea do regret their choice of letting go of a prodigious talent like Rio Ngumoha to Liverpool. The Reds did bag a golden opportunity to sign this youngster. The soon to be 17 year old has showcased him in the ongoing Uefa Youth League campaign.
The English forward is yet to score for the Reds but has been exceptional on the ball. Liverpool’s summer signing almost scored an incredible against Bologna under 19’s. Rio had created many openings for the youthful side making him a huge prospect for Red’s senior squad.
Liverpool paid a whooping 60 million euros for the Engish talent. The youngster however has proven to be a good choice for the Reds. Rio currently plays for the under-19 squad of Liverpool and it is clear that he will soon make his way to Arne Slot’s main senior team.
Jurgen Klopp had a big part in bringing in Rio Ngumoha
Liverpool’s ex-manager has a major part in bringing in Rio Ngumoha from Chelsea. Klopp was the orchestrator of the deal before the beginning of the summer transfer window.
Ngumoha has played on the left wing of the Chelsea under-18 squad and has been clinical for the club. He made a total of 19 appearances for the junior team. The English forward has already trained with Chelsea’s main squad this progress has spiked Liverpool’s interest.
A report from the DailyMail has provided the information that Jurgen Klopp had a major hand in the signing of the Chelsea prodigy. Klopp had left as the manager of the Reds before the start of the season. Jurgen left the club as a legendary manager.
Arne Slot has been given the role to coach Liverpool this season. It would be interesting to see if Ngumoha would be under Slot’s radar to play in the regular XI. The reports also state that Rio chose his move to the Anfield Stadium after he saw the involvement of youngsters in the team’s achievements.
The forward was particularly interested in the move after Liverpool defeated Chelsea in the Carabao Cup final last year. There were many young academy players who contributed to Liverpool’s win in the EFL Cup final.

Why did Manchester United back out from the battle against Liverpool?
Manchester United halted their tracks to sign Rio Ngumoha because Liverpool had already made much progress.
The Red Devils backed off the completion as the 16-year-old had already signed a deal with Liverpool in September. The forward was interested in making his move to Anfield rather than Old Trafford. It is reported that Rio had spent some time with Manchester United in June. They wanted to push to sign the youngster but Liverpool was way too ahead.
Liverpool’s under-18 manager Marc Bridge Wilkinson had something to say about Ngumoha, he said-
“He is here with us because he has the potential to go and reach the first team”.
Rio Ngumoha had gathered interest from many clubs before he signed with Chelsea. When Rio was 8 years old, giants like Manchester City, Liverpool and Everton were keen on him before he made his way with the Blues.
Chelsea remains hugely disappointed after the loss of the 16-year-old talent. He was expected to start with the main squad at the Stamford Bridge. It is all excitement for Liverpool as Ngumoha has already started to contribute to the Reds. In a few years, he will the most likely play in Liverpool’s regular squad.
