Liverpool have reportedly joined the race for Udinese star Rodrigo De Paul.
The 26-year-old has scored three goals and assisted two more in 15 Serie A appearances this season.
Liverpool will face competition from Leeds United and European giants Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid.
Rodrigo De Paul Linked with Liverpool?
Rodrigo De Paul joined Udinese from Valencia in the summer of 2016 and has since seen his career take off.
A mainstay in midfield for Le Zebrette, the Argentine international is now widely regarded as one of the best midfielders in all of Serie A. The Reds are in the market for a replacement for Gini Wijnaldum who’s on the move.
With Naby Keita’s fitness woes making him a frustrating figure, it is even more imperative for the Premier League champions to search the market for a possible midfield reinforcement.
De Paul is attracting interest from European giants Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid. That means either Liverpool might have to spend big to sign him.
The report states that Udinese will accept offers in the region of £40 million, but a transfer race could see this number rise massively. The Serie A side’s sporting director Pierpaolo Marino said on Sunday:
“I can confirm that he will stay (in January)”
“He will leave, if the right offers come in, next summer.”
De Paul has established a reputation as one of Serie A’s top attacking midfielders in recent seasons, scoring 28 goals and providing 28 assists in 163 games for Udinese.
However, Liverpool face stiff competition from Leeds United, who have been monitoring him since the summer transfer window.
In addition, Inter Milan are also keeping tabs on his situation, and a summer move could well be in the mind of manager Antonio Conte.
