Liverpool are Premier League Champions, Equal Man Utd’s Record.
Liverpool Equal Man United’s Historic 20 Titles
Arne Slot’s side put in a ruthless display to secure the crown. They gave their fans a day to remember at the iconic ground. Liverpool only needed a draw to win the league, so they made it count with a five-goal rout.
Luis Díaz opened the scoring before Alexis Mac Allister, Cody Gakpo, and Salah all netted. Plus an own goal from Tottenham‘s Destiny Udogie, rounded out the scoring.
This was nice for Salah too, it was actually his 185th Premier League goal. He now has a record of being the highest scoring foreign player in the PL. Slot’s men have been rock solid all season. They have lost just two games out of 34.
It’s been a great debut campaign under the Dutch tactician. He took over from Jürgen Klopp last summer after moving from Feyenoord.
An Emotional Celebration at Anfield
After the final whistle, Anfield was rocking as Arne Slot paid tribute to Klopp by singing his name to the crowd. It was just like the German did for him a year ago. Slot’s fantastic success is built on the foundations laid by Klopp, mainly from the midfield overhaul of 2023.
Though Klopp’s final season ended with only a Carabao Cup win. But, he laid down the foundations for a new era. The Reds‘ head coach Slot and sporting director Richard Hughes barely changed anything regarding the Arne’s appointment, opting to trust Klopp’s squad. It is safe to say there were very few who thought Slot could achieve the enormity of filling Klopp’s shoes.
This marks Liverpool’s second Premier League trophy. The first coming five years ago during the pandemic. Now, Anfield and the Liverpool faithful can finally live in their long-awaited moment.
