Liverpool youngster Calvin Ramsay has vowed to show the new Liverpool manager he can carve out his career at Anfield. The Reds brought the Scottish right-back from Aberdeen back in 2022 for a fee of 4.2M. The club was looking for a perfect heir for Trent Alexander Arnold but sadly, the Scottish right-back has failed to live up to expectations.
Calvin Ramsay’s Career In Liverpool
In his first season, the 20-year-old only appeared twice for the Reds and also suffered the season for a knee injury. Then, the youngster made a move to Championship side Preston on loan. But, injury again stopped his progress, made only two appearances for Preston North End. So, he made another loan move to League One side Bolton Wanderers. Though Bolton had an interesting year, and reached the League One play-off final, Ramsay had only four appearances for them.
No serious improvement in his career, and now another loan spell is waiting for this Scottish right-back. The Scottish youngster is set to spend the whole upcoming season with league-one side Wigan Athletic. The deal was reached between the two clubs earlier this month. The paperwork is done and the announcement is just a matter of time. The move is the first piece of official transfer made by Liverpool under Slot’s era at Anfield.

But this time Calvin Ramsay is ready to forget the past and to do a lot better under Wigan boss Shaun Maloney. The Latics boss, Shaun Maloney as a fellow countryman praised Calvin and said,
“Calvin is an excellent profile who will bring aggression and attacking talent from both the right and left side of defense.”
Ramsay’s Statement On His New Transfer
Ramsay is eager to show his potential in Wigan and also ready to prove his worthiness to Arne Slot. In Lactics TV, Ramsay says,
“I am excited for the start of the season, really. When I was driving up to the training ground, there was a real excitement.
I don’t know what it was, just hungry to get going and show everyone what I can do and probably prove a few people wrong as well who have been saying a few things or doubting me.
It’s been almost a year, and I’ve been at Preston. And that, when I was out injured going to the games all the time, seeing the boys playing, doing well and you miss it. Now I’m back, fully fit, ready to get a good pre-season under me, go to Hungry for a week, some warm-weather training, come back, have a few friendlies, and then the season will be right around the corner. I’m looking forward to it.”
Calvin Ramsay is determined to get a good season at Wigan. He believed that this move would earn him a position for the Reds under Slot in the future.
