Nicolo Barella will not be playing for Liverpool next season. The midfielder has been remarkable for club and country this season. He was among Antonio Conte’s core group who lead Inter Milan to their first Scudetto in 10 years. Along with Arturo Vidal and Marcelo Brozovic, Inter Milan tore apart Serie A.
Romelu Lukaku, Alexis Sanchez and Lautaro Martinez scored most of the goals but Barella dictated the game. He scored thrice and created 13 across 46 games. For Italy, he has been Roberto Mancini’s midfield dream alongside Manuel Locatelli and Jorginho.
Liverpool have not had such a great season. After winning the title after 30 years, they started the season in terrible fashion. The packed schedule affected them the most as they saw most of their key players out for months because of injuries. Virgil van Dijk, Trent Alexander Arnold, Joe Gomez, James Milner and Jordan Henderson are just a few to name. Thus it raised a concern to increase the squad depth in order to cope up with unforeseen injuries.
Liverpool will not get Barella
Georginio Wijnaldum has left Liverpool as a free agent leaving them in search of a midfielder. Nicolo Barella would have been the perfect replacement. But as it seems, Inter Milan are not willing to sell their midfielder this transfer window.
Barella has another 3 years left on his contract and should he leave, Milan can ask quite something. His Serie A MVP Midfielder award simply explains what an exceptional talent he is.
Barella at the Euros
Barella has been a core member of the Italian squad that are deemed favourites to win the tournament. He has provided 2 assists and even grab a goal for himself in the quarterfinals against Belgium.
His performances have put him on the wish-list of many other clubs such as Barcelona, Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid. However, when you switch to watch Inter’s first game next season, you will see Barella in the staring line-up.
