Spanish giants Real Madrid is reportedly monitoring Blues talent Josh Acheampong for Winter move this season. But he is considered as an alternative for Liverpool star Trent-Alexander Arnold. The Blancos are currently facing a crisis situation in their backline. As veteran fullback Dani Carvajal is out for the entire season. He tore his ACL right before the international break against Villareal, couple of weeks ago.
And one of their main defenders David Alaba is still out of action after he tore his ACL last year. Even their young defender Joan Martinez, who is considered a top talent by the Whites is out for the entire year due to similar cause. So, now the Whites are only left with a few options in their backline to operate with. And a January move to reinforce the side is the most possible option.
Real Madrid eye Chelsea academy graduate Josh Acheampong
As per the reports of Football.London the Spanish giants are monitoring Blues academy graduate Josh Acheampong to fill up the void in defense. Josh has been with the London based club since the age of 8. He is a very talented player, who can play in multiple positions in the back.
Josh can be a great option for the Whites as he has that strong mentality which is desired by them. And it would be also beneficial for them to sign a young player of Josh’s age. As they can serve the club for the next decade. Josh Acheampong is just 18 years old but already made an Premier League appearance with the Blues first team last season. He even came off the bench against Barrow in the EFL cup, last month.
The 18-year-old has made appearances with the Three Lion’s under 16 to 20 sides. And even scored a goal in the u-17 world cup last season. Josh is not only a solid and strong defender. But can also play the role of a fullback or a wing-back very well. With his raw pace and flair he can be a good replacement of Carvajal at Madrid.
If former Blancos midfielder Xabi Alonso joins the club as a manager next season, then Josh will be a great signing for them. As the German tactician likes to play in a 3-5-2 formation where he prefers to use wing-backs. And the Englishman will be a very flexible option for them as he can switch the roles in between games as a center back and a fullback.
Arrival of Josh depends on TAA
However, the Blancos are only seeing Josh Acheampong as the substitute option of Trent Alexander-Arnold. The Spanish capitals always wanted to sign the Liverpool star in the last couple of season. And now the dream can be a reality next season. As the 26-year-old has planned not to renew his contract with the Merseyside club.
Trent’s contract with the English giants ends at the end of this season. And he will be a free agent after that. Real Madrid will definitely grab the chance to sign the right back for free. Jude Bellingham will play a crucial role for the deal as it is believed that the star midfielder is trying convince his national teammate to join the Blancos. Both of them have been caught hanging out during the breaks and the fans are pretty sure that their dream will come true.
Trent can not only fill up the role of a right back, but also solve the creativity problem that Madrid are lacking since the retirement of Toni Kroos at the end of the last season. Madrid will have another Galacticos squad if that happens. As they have big players like- Mbappe, Vinicius, Bellingham, Trent, Valvarde, Rodrygo and others in their starting xi.
