Los Blancos To Cash On Ferland Mendy ?

Frenchman Ferland Mendy‘s future is up in thin air as reports in Madrid suggest that the Spanish side will be looking to cash in on the left-back as soon as possible. Following Antonio Rudiger‘s move from Chelsea, the Merengues are looking to offload the 26-year-old after just 3 seasons. And since 2019, he has served the Spanish giants with full commitment, having taken up from Marcelo and going from strength to strength during that period.

But now, it seems like a story ended too soon. With Real Madrid having a perfect end to their last season securing La Liga quite a few matchdays before and also managing to lift their 14th UCL title, Florentino Perez seems to be in complete control of his team’s transfer activities having already signed Midfield sensation Aurelien Tchouameni, after recovering from the setback of not signing Kylian Mbappe.

As for Ferland Mendy, it may just be the end of his Madrid career. Rudiger’s arrival from Chelsea was always going to shake things in defence and it seems like Carlo Ancelotti has already made up his mind about having Eder Militao and Rudiger as the first choice pairing of CBs. This will most likely shift David Alaba towards the left-back role with Mendy no longer a starter. Madrid have already made up their mind about having Rayo Vallecano’s Fran Garcia as the 2nd choice left-back behind Alaba.

Real Madrid secured Mendy’s services in 2019 paying around $50 million and will be looking to recoup that investment. The Frenchman’s current contract runs out in 2025 and Premier League heavyweights Chelsea and Man United are looking to sign Mendy as their first-choice left-back if indeed Madrid decides to sell him, English clubs will be ready to pounce upon and get Mendy.

The last day of this rumored transfer is always going to be with manager Carlo Ancelotti who will be looking to complete pre-season with the squad and then arrive at any decision. This transfer window will surely be interesting and Los Blancos fans will be eagerly waiting to see if Mendy does depart from the Santiago Bernabeu this summer.
