Federico Valverde has emerged as one of the best players in the world. He has been nominated for Ballon D’or this year after his amazing season. Valverde who is often claimed to become future captain of Real Madrid could have been Arsenal superstar.
Gunners had the chance to sign Valverde back when he was only 16. But the deal never happened and Valverde joined Madrid instead. He has already won Champions League two times since joining Madrid. There are many reasons behind the failure of his deal with Arsenal.
Arsenal were close to sign Valverde
When Valverde was 16, he started to make name fir himself in football. He was known all around his club and was viewed as a kid with bright future. Valverde was soon given a chance to impress Arsenal and hence was sent on a trial to London.
But, Valverde never felt comfortable in England and hence turned down the offer to join them. He claimed that the business took over and he was being considered as profit by the club.
His agents tried hard for the deal to happen. But it only took a week for Valverde to give his final decision and the main reason behind it was that was never comfortable there. It can happen to anyone as living in foreign land where everyone speaks different language is very hard. On top of it he was only 16 and hence needed a parenting touch.
Luckily for Valverde, Real Madrid came to his resuce. Unlike Arsenal, they gave Valverde a chance to relocate along with his family. This made Valverde to say yes to the offer and the rest is history. He currently has market value of €130 million as per Transfermarkt. Madrid fans are very happy with the midfielder and consider him their next captain. Valverde plays with full passion for the club he loves since he was just a kid.
