Man City legend has recently said that he loves one Arsenal star in particular. The City legend used to play in same area as that of Gunners star which makes the comments even more meaningful.
The Arsenal star in question here is their club record signing Declan Rice. The North London club paid £105 million to secure Rice’s signature. The 26 year old has been superb so far for Gunners. He has 10 goals and 16 assists in 84 games under Mikel Arteta.
Rice started playing as holding midfielder for Gunners. Later, he was being used as central midfielder. He has responded very well at both roles which makes him key player for Mikel Arteta. Now, one City legend has showered him with praise.
Man City legend loves Declan Rice
Man City legend Yaya Toure was asked to pick between Rodri and Rice. Toure did pick Rodri but he had some amazing words for Rice. As he used to play as midfielder, his words will be enough to showcase how good Rice is.
“Oh no man, that is my two player one. Rodri is good, but Declan Rice is very good. I love him, I love Declan Rice. But, I’m going to go for Rodri” – Yaya Toure as quoted by Now Arsenal.
Earlier, Arsenal legend Thierry Henry compared Rice and Yaya Toure. He said that Toure used to play as cover for Iniesta and Xavi at Barca due to which he did not had many goals or assists. But, he started playing higher at City which was followed by goals and assists.
Rice has came up with a similar story. As mentioned above he started playing as holding midfielder. But now, Thomas Partey plays as holding midfielder and hence Rice is free to play forwards. Next season, we may see Partey replaced by Zubimendi and Rice being made regular central midfielder.
