English giants Man City and Liverpool continued their fierce rivalry on and off the pitch. They both faced each other again in the FA Cup semifinals. This time Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool were on the winning side of this intense battle. They overcame Pep Guardiola’s Man City by beating them by 3-2 at Wembley.

The Battle as it happened

Liverpool performed brilliantly in the first half by scoring three goals to City’s none. Young Defender Ibrahima Konate continued his goalscoring form by finding the net to get the Reds going in London. Liverpool doubled their lead through Sadio Mane. He pressed and forced City Goalie Zack Steffen to make a blunder in the six-yard box.

Later in the first half Mane scored a beautiful volley which was assisted to him by midfield maestro Thiago. In the second half, Man City tried to make a comeback. Jack Grealish and Bernardo Silva both scored but Allison’s spectacular saves were enough for Liverpool. He saved two shots for striker Jesus which took Liverpool to the finals of the FA Cup.

Pep made many changes in the side to face Liverpool which lead to their tumble. Kevin De Bruyne, Ruben Dias, Rodri, Ederson, and Ruben Dias all made the bench for Pep Guardiola’s side, while Kyle Walker missed out with an injury. Moreover, Pep also said that his side was “exhausted” following their Champions League victory over Atletico Madrid. That forced Pep to make changes to his side.

Following this great victory, Liverpool reaches their first FA-Cup final in 10 years. They will now face Chelsea who beat Crystal Palace in a hard-fought victory. Their dream of winning the quadruple is still on and they could make history by winning it. Moreover, with this victory, Klopp became the first manager to beat Pep Guardiola for a record time.
