Man City prepared to trigger release clause of Arsenal target

Man City are ready to trigger the release clause of Arsenal target. The star was previously linked with a move to Liverpool. But the deal failed to materialize.

The star in question here is Spanish midfielder Martin Zubimendi. Zubimendi is 25 years old and currently plays for Real Sociedad. He is one of the best players in the world at his position right now.

Zubimendi was very heavily linked with a move to Liverpool this summer. The Reds tried very hard but the player was not willing to leave Spain. But, now it seems like the player is ready to join new club next year.

Arsenal are also interested to sign Zubimendi. They are set to lose Thomas Partey and Jorginho for free at the end of the season. Zubimendi has been their long term target.

Gunners were also in the race to sign Zubimendi this summer. But, they were also notified the same as Liverpool by the player. The North London club then went on to sign his teammate Mikel Merino.

Man City join the race to sign Martin Zubimendi

Manchester City is the latest club being linked with Zubimendi. Football Insider have reported that they are willing to trigger his £50 million million release clause in January.

City are in the nightmare situation right now. They have only been able to win 1 out of last 13 matches. It all started after the injury to their main star Rodri. City are willing to find his replacement as soon as possible in order to secure their spot in Champions League next season.

Zubimendi will also have his say about the January move. Real Sociedad will not like to lose him in mid-season but may have to do so if the player forces a move. As of now, he has very strong chance to end at Premier League next year.
