Man United ace suffers from another injury setback

Man United full back Luke Shaw has suffered another injury. And he will not be ready to face Arsenal this week. Shaw has made his first appearance of the season against Ipswich Town last week. He also featured against Bodo/Glimt and Everton. However all of those minutes came from the bench.

However, after returning from fitness he has again suffered another minor injury over the weekend. The 29-year-old wasn’t captured travelling with the squad to face Arsenal on Thursday. That raised concerns over his availability in the social media. And he confirmed about his injury on Tuesday night.

Luke Shaw posted a statement on his Instagram handle to apologize to the fans. It said,

“Hi guys, it’s hurting a lot having to write this as I really thought I had got through my recent struggles and was on a positive path going forward, but unfortunately I’ve had a small setback.”

“I’ve been through a lot and had a lot of ups and downs, but this has been my toughest period. I’m absolutely devastated and it’s extremely tough to come to terms with reality at this time.”

“I understand there’s going to be people frustrated, angry, disappointed and I understand all that. There is no-one feeling that more than me at this moment in time.”

Luke Shaw injury history

The 29 y/o Englishman has been one of the most injury prone players of the club history. As per the records of TransferMarkt, last season he was out for 236 days due to injury. During that period he missed 50 games for club and country. It has only been 5 months since the season started and Luke Shaw has already missed the whole of it except those three appearances from the bench.

Author’s opinion :

In Ruben Amorim’s 3-4-3 system fullbacks play a vital role. And as of now in the absence of injured Shaw, United only have Diogo Dalot in that side, who is performing superbly. If things go on like this the new manager and the club will lose the trust of Luke Shaw and will sell him to bring a back up option to support the Portuguese.
